Oops... I missed last week

So last week I was out at A's for a visit. I took her sushi and pizza. We visited for a while, i helped her move her recliner, took her trash cans to the curb, and played with her animals. She is doing better, but can tell when she's wearing herself out. A trip to Abilene and back is too much driving for now since she cant really move her head. But she is healing. I guess I forgot it was also technically blog day cuz obviously I didn't post one last week. Oops. I beg your forgiveness.

It's been kinda crazy work-wise. I started a collaborative study program to prepare for my CPHQ exam (that's certified professional of Healthcare quality, basically a bunch of letters after my name saying I officially know how to do my job), and I'm learning a LOT about how I can do better at work. Monday I also start a class out of UT Arlington on rural grant writing. No certification for that one, but more $ for the hospital is always a good thing. So I'm working on improving my position at work, which is stressful and exciting and exhausting. I've got ideas, and I'm working on plans to make them happen. Keep me in your prayers, please.

Home life continues to be a learning experience, and also a total blast. We had a weekend of dating this past weekend that was amazing. After dealing with the van on Friday AM we got out the date dice to decide on where to have dinner and then went to see deadpool and wolverine. Saturday we went to a new coffee shop in town, then to home depot and Kroger, then had dinner and movie night at home until D called from Korea and I chatted with him while J played borderlands.

monkey brains (fried avocado) with cream cheese, crab, and spicy mayo.
sushi! We got salmon, yellow tail, eel roll, and burleson roll.
saki should NOT be this good
ready for deadpool funness!
I got the Mexican mocha, J got head in the clouds. We both got their bfast burritos, but those really weren't anything special.
the entertainment on Saturday 😁

We are learning each other's quirks and all those things you don't know about a person until you share a living space with them. It's an adventure, for sure. I think J is going to figure out a block and tackle set up for the balcony so we don't have to haul groceries up the stairs all the time. I was wearing a long dress yesterday and did end up stepping on it and falling up the stairs with the groceries. And yes, that's why he had the eggs 😄. Don't worry, I didn't break anything, didn't even scuff the skin. My stainless steel water cup took the brunt of the damage.

This coming weekend (Labor Day) I'll have to take Monday off since it's a holiday and work doesn't want to pay me holiday pay, so the bestie and I have decided to make it a bestie weekend at the river. It seems to have worked out because the hubbs D&D group wants to meet for an epic game night, so wins all around. Tho I think we'll miss each other. This really was a lovely weekend of marital bliss. We even perused the Halloween section at Home Depot and OMG... let's just say when we get a house, it's ON, it's ON like Addams Family with a 20 ft skeleton! Hehe.

We have survived the hottest week of the summer, and Temps are set to start going down from here on out, which I am SO ready for. The sweater dresses and leggings are on stand by... ready for the 60s and 70s. Leaving behind the 100s. Tho honestly this summer wasn't terrible. We had a lot of rain, which was amazing. Hope all of you are doing well and keeping cool. Hugs and love, MUAH! 😘

700 Miles of Seester Time

I got a text that the shop time m&m expected to start on Friday had been bumped to Wednesday. So, not knowing if the shop was going to get them in early, we made plans to meet up for dinner on wed, possibly also on thurs, then maybe also spend Fri together. It all worked out, tho in unexpected ways. On Wed I had to get gas on the way to pick her up... hence my knowing what my mileage was at the end of the visit which officially ended at about 1 pm on sat. After about 700 miles of back and forth on i20... lots and lots of traffic.

Gloria's
The food is sooooooo amazing here we forgot to take pix
chilis is also good
mo gives me attitude. Also, it was 2 nights of being out past my bedtime, so it's official, my seester is a bad influence on me. I. Was. Exhausted.

Friday I got a text that I had to bring them coffee because they had a "random" drug test and I needed to bring my brother in law coffee so he could pee in a cup. So I did, then I had to take him back to the shop, then took my sis to get a pedi, then we went for Korean fried chicken
I dont want to meet the chicken who has these kinds of drumsticks. Then we went to Costco, then DQ, then home. Unfortunately Costco didn't have the Halloween squishies we were hoping for... mo needs a big batty bat.
So, since I had covid during my 40th and hence was gyped, and mo was on the truck during hers and hence was gyped, we got a make up cake. So I b 40, and she b 40 + 2 😁. I traumatized poor Ace cuz he thought Mo was J and when he realized he was mistaken he ran under the bed and hid. Mo got a shower and told me that my shampoo bar is weird (I use the ones from Lush). I've used them for so long I kinda forget that people are used to liquid shampoos.

The next day I picked her up and we went to Ham Orchards. It was the last day they were open for the season, so they were PACKED. It was also the only time we could bring the puppy with us.
All the goodies, and ALL the humanity!!

She got peaches, pastries, and cinnamon rolls, I got spiced peaches, a fried coconut pie for the hubby, nuts, and a peach and a strawberry jam. On the way back to the shop we got a pizza for her. It was an early visit since we were both still pretty exhausted from all our running around and she had only gotten about 4 hrs sleep the night before since they only released the truck to them at midnight and wanted it back at 530 am. Seriously, truck drivers put up with a LOT of BS. As of Sunday morning, the truck is STILL in the shop.

J has been working all weekend to make up for his time off with the 'vid, but thankfully that means he has been feeling better. He went back to work on thurs. Ace is being a goober butt, but he's a cat so it's expected. I'm planning on being a bum the rest of the weekend because all of the fighting traffic takes it out of me, and I've realized why. When I'm driving thru the metroplex I'm in a state of hyper-vigilance, which is exhausting. In the country I can relax. Driving in Italy is going to very interesting.
I'm being watched.
Lazies.

Anyway, it was a very good visit, and I'll miss these shop visits when they stop driving. On the other hand, visits will be more intentional, which will also be nice.

Oh, the appt for the endocrinologist won't be until Feb 19, so there's that... ridiculous. In the meantime, the migraine med doesn't seem to be working too well since I'm still getting a headache behind my right eye. Sigh... the brain has no pain receptors, so WHY do headaches exist!?!?

Bringing in 40 with Covid

So timeline of sickness. Friday i went to bed with horrible headache, figuring it was caused by booze and dehydration. Saturday headache still with me, coupled with sore throat and starting sinus issues, Sunday more of same. Well, I medicated myself on Monday. Tuesday I was feeling a bit better but I still had a lot of sinus pressure so I thought I'd see about getting some antibiotics cuz I thought I had a sinus infection. Yeah... no. They swabbed me for flu and covid and it came back positive for covid. Which meant I had to go home. Thankfully I can work from home, so though we had to reschedule some meetings and my mammo, it shouldn't be too big of a Thang. Nothing to do but keep medicating, rest, and get over it. I had thought that if I didn't have a fever I was good, but I guess that was old policy or something. Sigh. I did scare the bejeebuz out of my hubby. He was still sleeping when I came in, so I shut the door and set up my computer and he came out of the room like "who the hell!?!?!" Made me laugh, not gonna lie. Was nice to have lunch together before he had to go to work tho.

So I started my new decade feeling not totally terrible, but having to work from home due to having the 'vid. I'm glad all this went down this week tho cuz I should be testing negative by the time we head to KS. This time around was much less miserable than the first time, tho for some reason it hurts for work to send me home. Like, I get it, but it still feels mean. What was funny was this is what my friend LV at work gave me.
covid is trying again. Sigh.

So this wasn't how I'd planned on ringing in the next decade. My plans had involved more alcohol, excellent food, and much more fun cuddling with hubby. Sick cuddles aren't any fun. Also planned was fun with bestie and A. Unfortunately my bday plans have a history of not panning out, but this might have taken the cake. Sigh.
A great pic of our kitty for your enjoyment.

Anyway, why does getting sick feel like some kind of moral failing? And getting sent home for sickness just feels like being picked on?? Like, it's so messed up. But when sick time is mixed in with your vacation time, it doesn't really exist. Just like when holidays are also mixed in with PTO. If it's all mixed in, then taking sick time or holidays means less vacation days. Seriously, American work culture is jacked. Tho not as bad as Asian work culture, so I guess I should just say I'd rather live in Europe. Worst part is, I got the hubbster sick, too.
