The Pre-vacation Post

So here it is.  We're going to head out at FREAKING EARLY on Saturday morning (4:00 to catch the airport bus to Incheon).  Should get to the airport in plenty of time to catch our plane at 9:05 to Taiwan.  I'm so excited to have some time off!  T and I should have a great time.  J is off home to Austrailia, and A and her mom are headed to Thailand.  Everyone is either running away and having a good time or staying in Korea and having a good time.

So I just wanted to post a few things before I head out.  I know that I've mentioned the chicken cups before, but I just wanted to show you the lady who is responsible for the goodness.  This is the chicken cup lady, she works across an alley from the building that we work in.  Her English is great, and she gets a kick out of us when we try to speak Korean.
Her masterpiece.  Boneless fried chicken in some kind of sauce served with rice cakes.  She sometimes will give me an extra piece without sauce - even THAT is Heavenly!
So the other day I decided to try a new pizza place.  It's basically around the corner from where I live.  The lady seemed keen on me getting either the cheese or the pepperoni... though that could be because she didn't speak much English.  There were little pictures on the menu, so I pointed at a likely looking one.  Here's what I ended up with.  The pizza came with a TON of toppings (though they hide the onions under the cheese), sweet garlic butter sauce, parmesan cheese, red pepper flakes, and pickles.  I don't know why Korean places always give you pickles, but they do.
Here's my dinner that night.  The white stuff (I think) was some kind of sweet mayo sauce that they probably use in their bulgoggi pizzas.
All that was left... even then I ate one of these.  Note to self, can't really finish a whole pizza alone unless the crust is cracker-thin.
So my wonderful friends sent me a care package and here's the parts of it that I thought were most Texan.  Velveeta, RoTel, a cheese knife that has a chili pepper, and Lady McArthur's Arse Wuppin' Habarnero Jelly from Scarborough Faire!!!  I am so excited to come back from break and make me some FRIGGIN' NACHOS!!  The funny thing is, I was prepping my books today and we have a lesson on how to make tortilla chips.  Part of me wants to share with the kids, the bigger part of me really doesn't.  LOL.

Coming back, we have immersion to look forward to.  Basically it's 2 weeks of longer days, more lessons, and attempting to get the kids to level up faster by being exposed to more English.  The work day will be from 10am - 8pm, with lots of added work.  The good part is that I think they'll be feeding us during this, so woot for that.  They even got us snazzy T-shirts for it (we wear them on Mondays and Thursdays... you know, so we can wash 'em).
J and I being silly at the company lunch today.

So that's the post-mudfest, pre-vacation update.  Life is good, been working and living and trying to stay somewhat sane.  Have phone dates with friends back home lined up, which is always good.  And I realized that my phone and kindle have the same charger, so I only need to bring one charging cord with me on vacation.  There's still plenty of room in Little Buddy (my backpack), so I think I'll be alright if I just bring him.  I mean, I probably want to buy a shirt, but I'm still trying to be frugal.  The airlines we're taking have some weird rules, so I figure the less I can live with, the better I'll be.  I hate to say it, but the phone will help with that.  I can still post updates at least, if not some pix before I get back and have the huge post of the highlights.  LOL.

Much love to all, will catch you on the flip side.
