What is 'best life?'

So another thing that I didn't expect about coming to Korea was learning all these phrases that my younger colleagues use.  I've officially commandeered "I'm so here for that" and am trying to get one person to stop using 'cray cray' and 'hashtag' in normal conversation.  However, something that I've heard and tend to read on the internet is about someone living 'their best life.'  This confuses and confounds me.  After all, would you EVER say that someone is living their worst life?  I mean, I'd feel bad if someone were (I'm thinking contextually it would work for someone who was addicted to drugs or something).  But would anyone ever actually SAY it?  Also, in one context 'living their best life' was traveling and living off their parents.  While that would be a good life (I've paid bills long enough to be OVER that mess) could anyone actually say it was their BEST life?  And who judges what is 'best?'  What we see of a person's life on the internet is usually just the highlights.  You could say 'living my best life' online but in everyday life you may be miserably depressed.

Highlight - Mom sent new sunglasses :)

So that's my thought of the day - am I 'living my best life?'  I'm living the only life I've got.  I can't say that I'm the best version of myself, because God knows I've still got a lot of issues to work out.  Am I a better version than before?  Yeah.  I've worked out a lot of stuff... some stuff was a one-and-done kind of thing, others are more like old... acquaintances that pop up unannounced every now and then and need to be dealt with all over again.

These are the ones I'm wearing most often.

I am having a good time in Korea.  It's probably a good thing that I have to go out and meet new people.  To be fair, I wasn't doing much of that in TX.  I had my group and that was enough.  Here I'm kind of forced to meet new people... more or less constantly.  I mean, I still have my groups - the work peeps, and the training peeps.  However, I'm also actually meeting people of the opposite sex, which is proving a fascinating study of men overall.  My key takeaway right now is that I look like I'm still in my 20's... which cracks me up.  Also, some guys like long hair, but some like short hair, so frankly ladies, wear your hair how you want!  Mine will be pixie-d in August.  The ladies I went out with on Friday night now know that I can dance when I want to.  LOL... that's right, more to me than just a metal head ;)  I have fantastic taste in music!

I do have to laugh, being on the other side of the world means that I've been talking to people back home more than I did when I WAS home.  I've been messaging Gma more, emailing my aunts, chatting with people via FB, etc.  I guess when the possibility of a visit is nil, I hold on to what I can get!  I so appreciate the fact that I've got a good support network at home.  And I'd like to say here THANK YOU to everyone who has sent packages.  They are SO appreciated!!  It's so nice to get stuff from home!!  Also it makes me feel loved, so I appreciate that, too.

It's payday today!   So after work, we're going on an Emart run... my fridge is pretty darn bare.  I do want to make sure that I don't get too much in the way of groceries since I'll be gone for a week at the end of the month (woot, woot).  However, I also don't want to have to eat out every night... much.  LOL.  I have missed being waited on.  ;)  Anyway, we're on for the hike and beach on Sat, so I'll update you on Sun with those shenanigans.
In the meantime, here's me in my PJ's.  Guess I ought to get ready for work on this lovely Wednesday morning (for the next hour and a half).  Sending love from Korea to all my people back home!!
