There are few things in this world I love more than staying home, watching movies, reading books, eating food, and generally being away from humans. Now if only I could find another human who also likes those things and doesn't like other humans, but does like me, and I like him, and we don't live hundreds of miles from each other... sigh. Ah well. I went to Seoul on Thurs for my hair appointment and J was, as usual, wonderful. I was going to take myself out for food but then decided not to. I did do some shopping and treated myself to my favorite perfume from Lush (Death and Decay if you are wondering - smells of jasmine and lilys). Otherwise I've been on a creepy/fun movie kick. Mostly on the Netflix, some on the Amazon, and one courtesy of my favorite Oklahomian, T.
My place this week - this is pre-haircut.
Morticia Addams-inspired nails. They still look good, too.
Dakgalbi with J - we were able to keep our Wednesday date night courtesy of her boyfriend who understands our traditions. He's a sweetie.
Thurs I had a phone date with Gma and Gpa, which was lovely as always. I'm so happy that we have the ability to talk over oceans. It also made me look forward to next Easter when I'm planning to be able to celebrate with them again. Crossing my fingers that I can perhaps visit more than 2x in 2021.
Had to take a pic of this on Thrus on my way to my haircut 0 figure if Mo needed a South Korean bank account, she could get this card. Hehe.
Seems like a band I should be checking out, right?!
Mural outside of J's Hairdressing. Apparently it's by a very famous artist, but I can't read the signature, can you? The barbed wire is because I think there is either an international school or some sort of gov/military building behind it.
J's is on Churro Street - SK loves their churros :D
Some people are just too Christmas happy already (looking at you, J).
Post haircut - it's REALLY short on the sides, but hair grows and it doesn't look bad. Just feels weird for now.
My fast breaker on Friday - apple, grapes, babybel cheese, and mixed nuts.
Then I just HAD to make bfast tacos.
And later, I got a Super Papa's pizza from Papa Johns, paired it with Apothetic White wine, and watched some rather fun movies, including a Snow White from the 90's with Sam Neil in it.
All in all, I'd say this has been a rather wonderful week off. Today I'm having a replay of last night, but with leftover pizza (only 2 slices), salad, buffalo chicken dip (no more buffalo sauce for me), and dark chocolate with red wine. I've been continuing to correspond with some of the guys from Bumble, including one who had never seen the 90's Addams Family movies. Spoiler, he liked the first one. We've been discussing horrifying movies from our childhoods. I was horrified by the Witches as a kid and they are coming out with a new one this year... perhaps I'll see it - I love Octavia Spencer and Anne Hathaway looks good in it, too. Otherwise it's been standard Mandi listening to metal, singing along, and cleaning between movies and messages. It's gonna be a long road to finding the Gomez for my Morticia but when it happens, we shall be weird and happy together. In the meantime, I get to look forward to coming home and spending quality time with my loved ones.
Next week is a short one because National Hangul Day is on Friday. I may have already had a nightmare about coming back to work... that's not a good sign, is it? Sigh, 5 months left. I'm telling you, if I see any of my old teachers out and about, I'm going to take them for drinks and a HUGE THANK YOU!!!! I've also been laughing at myself - I'm studying for the FSOT and part of that is brushing up on the American gov/World history and all I can think is "I need you, Mrs. Franks or Mr Quayle!!!" (MS or HS Social studies teachers, for those who didn't go to WR.) However, it makes my nerdy soul happy to be able to have something to study for again... I may have gone overboard when studying for the GRE before going for my masters, but I did graduate with a 3.8 (in my Masters, anyway, undergrad was a pathetic 2.- something due to failing A&P my first year). The take away from this is that I'm happy to be brushing up on things, I'm nervous yet excited about the FSOT in Feb, I'm for sure coming home when my contract is up, and I miss my peoples something FIERCE! MUAH! Much love to all.
(TMI Alert - avert your gaze if offended by things like underwear.) I also love that it's officially no bra season for us members of the itty bitty committee. I went out twice in a tank top and over-shirt and it was GLORIOUS! You can keep your melons, I'll stick with my lemons (insert laughing emoji).
