The soupening

If you are friends with me on the book of faces, you know that the TX temps were supposed to be in the 60s this week. Since that is 100% fall weather (for TX), I declared this week to be... SOUP WEEK! As such, I spent most of Sunday peeling, chopping, sautéing, boiling, and simmering. Now, i only did 3 soups cuz hubbs already made us some chili, and Fridays are generally days I have dinner with either him or A, so I only had 4 days of lunches to prep. Here's what I did!

Soup 1: potato and Leek
Ingredients
Final product. This soup goes well with croutons on top. So much so that I've referred to it as a "crouton delivery system."
Lunch on Monday.

2nd soup: sausage, potato, and artichoke hearts in tomato broth. Also I've renamed it "Christmas soup" for the red and green. If you can think of a better name, please let me know.
ingredients (minus the wine, that was in the fridge)
Final product. Hubbs got me a seasoned foccacia bread to go with this. SO GOOD.
I had this one for lunch on Sunday.

3rd: sausage and bean soup. This is the only one I hadn't made before, but I thought it fitting that at least ONE soup go in a modern cauldron.
I wanted to use up the carrots, sausage, and beans we've had for a while. The recipe itself didn't call for much in the way of seasoning, so I took it upon myself to add some.
Into the cauldron it goes.
It turned out quite nice. Lots of sausage, some pinto and black beans, garlic powder, cumin, salt and pepper to taste. Now I probably won't need to cook for a while. Lol. Between this and the leftover Stew, the freezer is fairly full. 😁 we are eating good in burleson! Hubbs and I have all the yummies!
Couldn't find the cat when hubby left for work.
He's a cute little stinker.

I also decided to deep clean the floors, so I went room by room moving furniture, sweeping, steam mopping, moving everything back, and moving on. It took me all of Bedknobs and Broomsticks, and half of The Black Cauldron to do the kitchen, dining room, living room, game room, guest bathroom, and entry/hallway. I. Was. BEAT! Cleaning the floors should TOTALLY count as a workout. All I have left is the master bedroom and bathroom. Poor Ace was HORRIFIED. He is not a fan of when we clean up all of his hairs and butt spots from the floor. LOL. I ended the day at yin yoga where you get into the pose and just... stay. I noticed my hip was better, so I guess the pop I felt when curled up in the chair in the game room worked!

Monday came around and it was business as usual at work. I did get a couple things from coworkers tho.
Sand art from a friend in registration. She had one that I admired, so she got me one!
I like this duck. Hehe.

My week off of my fitness schedule is including not worrying about my food, which is weird. I'm not tracking cals, protien, or fiber this week and its... strange. I mean, it's not a free for all or anything, but I don't have to actively track it and im... free. Lol... for now, anyway.

On Tuesday the plan was to go to yoga and then do a little shopping. However, circumstances determined that I prioritize rest, ibuprofen, and heating pads. So I canceled yoga, got my sweaters out, brought in my pepper plants (its supposed to get cold the next couple of days), and watched Avatar the last Airbender. My sinuses decided to rebel with the cold front that came thru, so my life also became all about sudafed. One of the worst sinus headaches I've ever had 😢
I GREW A PEPPER!!! I hope the plants survive the winter.

Wednesday after work I gave out candy to the kiddos on the square for "safe treat." Candy was provided by work, boss helped me haul it to the company van and our PR lady helped me set up. Thankfully my work friend (with the same last name) came to help.
The sun needed to go AWAY.
SUCCESS!! One bucket of candy leftover.

After work on thurs i took my car to the car wash and did a self-detail on it (vacuum, wiped down the plastic, cleaned the inside of the windows, etc). This should ALSO count as a workout. Washing the inside of the windshield requires cirque du soleil style contortions. I swear there is still adhesive on the windows from the stickers Carvana put on it. Sigh. I now have a clean car. I left work a little early cuz my sinuses declared war on my head. The weather was so nice I opened the windows when I got home.

Friday we had a costume contest at work. I was Lucy van pelt and boss was supposed to be Charlie brown, but his costume "didn't come in."
I am NOT a fan of wigs, btw. I do think I did a good job on it tho. My office is at times the place people come to unload.

Saturday I stayed home ALLLL day. I needed the rest since my sinuses couldn't decide if they still hated me or not. I think the soak and the shower helped. Hubbs was worried that I had something worse than just angry allergies. I maintain texas just gets mad at me around this time of year.
This is a VERY good ice cream. 😁

I hope all of you are staying healthy and that you had a lovely spooky season. Hugs and love from texas!!!
Ace is a great year round Halloween decoration. ❤️❤️
