Jeonju Hanok Village

OK, I have been social every single weekend for a month now.  We are rapidly coming up on Mandi needing a BH weekend.  It was a good trip, with a full bus which was kinda surprising.  I went to Jeonju Hanok Village, Juknokwon bamboo forest, and I ended up at Naejangsan National Park again (went last year with M(H)).  Since there's not much happening lately, I'll do one blog post for each place I went.

Saturday started out EARLY - 6 am I got up, 6:15 I was on the bus, 7:15 I was at the stop where they were going to pick me up.  It was a little awkward cuz there was a guy with Adventure Korea there waiting to pick up other people.  That is the tour group I usually go with, but this time I went with Goh Travel Korea.  They picked me up (the only one at that one... which was strange), and away we went to Jeonju.  I didn't know much about it, but I did listen to people around me and they said that Jeonju is famous for their bibibap and choco pies.  Since I was planning on skipping lunch, I decided to get some choco pies to go.  I also wandered around and eventually did get my breakfast of a vanilla latte and a scone with chocolate, walnuts, and dried cranberries.

Bus #1 at O.M.G. early in the morning.
One of the things people love to do is dress in Hanboks and take pix.  I did not do this, after careful consideration I decided that it wasn't important for me to do it.  I'm not going to regret not taking those kinds of pix.
It was super cute - this is the view from where I got my hot Americano.
There were a lot of artisans... I'm not sure what the story is here, but I thought they were kinda cute/disturbing.
The weather was PERFECT.
Lots of extremely picturesque places.
So I did decide to pose with my one true love.  Coffee.

This, I believe, is termed a 'riot of color.'
Obligatory selfie.
From the other side.
I tried to visit the cathedral (one of 3 main cathedrals in Korea), but it was being restored... so I didn't attempt to go inside.
I did get the pic of the story of it tho.
And this angle was good, I thought.
More walking... lotta walking this weekend.  As my mom's friend would say 'my butt is like steel!'

More picturesque places.
More selfies... I feel like such a rebel when I take the mask off for a bit.
More yellow trees.
This will be a good photo to print, I think.
As will this - some flowers are just holding on as long as they can!
Off the beaten track.
No one around, QUICK!
No, I didn't go in, but I thought about it.  Also, glasses are fun props for pix.
There was also a music museum and they were doing a demonstration.  I like the angle of this shot cuz it's almost clandestine.  Hehe... Secret Agent Mandi.  ;)
Told you about the glasses.
I like the gazebos... can't imagine why.
Then there was a parade.
The mascots of the village.
Me waiting on my latte and scone.  After this, we had to head back to the bus.  We were to meet at 2:20pm to go to the next place.  I am happy to report I was not late back to the bus.
I like this angle of the stone... everyone else went up and took pix with it, I went a different route.

My seat mate was a teacher on the base, so she's not here teaching English but she understood about the kids.  She was nice and traveling with 2 other teachers, who were also nice.  There was also a military family, an Egyptian mother and daughter, a very nice Romanian teacher, and a lady who works for the DOD.  Conversations were far reaching and interesting, tho there was a lot of bemoaning the fact that we can't travel internationally as often as we'd like.  It does hit home to hear 'my husband went home last year and I haven't seen him since Corona was a thing.'  The Egyptian lady said she has a brother who hasn't seen his kids in a year as well.  Stupid 'rona, ruining everything.

Anyway, this was the first part of my Saturday.  Later you'll get the 2nd part, then next Sunday you'll get the pix from today.

Not much else to report.  Work is work, friends are good, politics are disgusting, studying continues, and I'm just plugging away (as my dad says... constantly... like, every convo... but it's a good thing... gotta love the Dad-isms).  Much love to all, MUAH!
