It was a lazy time for me ringing in the new year. I decided to spend it solo, watching Star Wars and having food. So basically doing the same thing I did for Christmas. It was really nice not having to worry about the cold, getting a taxi home, or avoiding crowds. Jan 1st saw a video call to Gma and Gpa once I woke up and then a long convo with Ana. So basically the new started off just great - calls home to people I love.
The rest of the weekend was just as relaxing. I watched the Star Wars movies in a strange order - 4 5 1 2 3 6 7 8 9. I think I like that order because it starts with #4 and I am old enough to remember a world before the re-release and prequels. I did finally see 7 8 and 9, and call me a nerd fail or whatever but I enjoyed them. They were fun. I did have a friend over for those who accused me of already seeing them... I had to explain that I hadn't seen them, I'd just seen spoilers online. So once again I spent the whole weekend in pjs and avoiding most humans. We did go for pizza, so I did get outside for a bit. :)
I'm really happy that I'm officially down to 2 months until I go home. I'm going to buy the plane tickets this week - if I need a layover, I'll be sure to have one in the states. I'm a little sad just because I'm going to miss certain things about Korea and the people that I've come to care about here. I gotta tell you, one of the biggest things I'm going to miss are the doors in public restrooms - THERE IS NO GAP HERE! Like, you go in, and there's no gaping maw that you can see out of (and others can see in). No huge person-sized hole in the bottom of the door, either. It's awesome. Then there's the chicken... yeah, we have wings and they are good, but Korean fried chicken is something else - less breading based, always hot and tasty. I will also miss walking everywhere... tho I do miss driving. Basically I miss having the option to get in the car and go as opposed to waiting for a bus and/or metro. J told me that when she flew home one of the nicest things was being able to talk to strangers again. I told her I understand - there's just something about being able to exchange pleasantries. So you know, everywhere is a mixed bag, right?!
As for work, well, 4 days off helped but I still hate the idea of going back to zoom... I keep telling myself if I could put up with 5 years in a call center, I can hold on for 2 more months of zoom teaching. Just gotta keep looking ahead and figure out what to do on the weekends to keep myself sane. I am somewhat chagrined to tell you that my 3 liter box of wine only lasted me 2 days... it was a really good tempranillo.
So that's all that I have going on at the moment. I love and miss everyone and can't wait until I'm back stateside. I think I have decided to put off the FSOT until June, btw. It's just gonna be too stressful with immersion and everything going on at the same time. I also like the idea of taking the test in Casper where everyone will speak English and I don't have to try to figure out everything in Korean. MUAH! :* much love, and 9 weeks to go, people!!
