... for adventures in grocery shopping, that is. Saturday I got up, made my coffee, put on my thermals, jeans, my Trivium T-shirt, and my leather jacket, grabbed little buddy and 2 other re-useable bags, and headed to Emart. It was a madhouse. So. Many. People. However, I was able to stock up on things that I can't get at the mart closer to home. Things like polish sausage, Mexican cheese, and such. I then loaded it all in my bags (just lil' buddy and my 'wide-eyed bibliophile' one) and went back home. I unloaded, got some water, took the leather jacket off because by now I was quite comfortable (it was 50F today), and headed back out. I went to No Brand where they did not have my cardbordeaux, but they did have some fairly cheap Merlot. Then on my way home I stopped at OK Mart to get the things I need to make stew. All of that fit into lil' buddy, tho the weight was distributed weird and made me happy that I'd be going home again. By the time I got home, I was curious as to how much I had walked and so I looked it up on Naver. In total, I walked 5.8 km, or 3.6 miles in order to get all my stuffs. Totally worth it. I'd say the whole shebang took about 2.5 hours. For some reason, I was TIRED afterwards.
Outside Emart on the way home.Bag #1
Little buddy... or lil' buddy, depending on my mood.
The walk home from Emart.
I'm getting ready for immersion... do you think 110 packets of instant cold brew will be enough?! Unfortunately "black" means "black with sugar" as I found out to my chagrin today. Sigh... rude.
After the 2nd trip... he looks a little stuffed, but not bad right?
Deceptively handy, he is. Look at that roast that's gonna be cut up into stew meat. Update: it wasn't roast... it was sliced for bulgogi. Still worked for the stew, but I'm gonna be happy when I'm not blindsided by purchases anymore.
Putting everything away - this is what passes for my pantry. And no, I'm not planning on drinking all the wine in one sitting. I need a nice mix of red and white for cooking, don'tchaknow?
Yeah, I know my freezer needs to be defrosted. I'll do that in March. I has FOOD!
Now for my funny story. My friend S tends to be a little... whiny. Due to this, I use my mom's fall back expression which is "Would you like some cheese to go with that whine?" I use this so often that I told him I'm going to start carrying around Babybel and when he whines I'm going to throw it at his head. Fast forward to this week... S whines, I throw a Babybel at his head. He then says that he's going to eat it, but I say that I don't have enough for him to eat each one I throw at him. So... on my desk... at work... is the following item:
The label is reinforced with tape. :D We both have a horrible case of shortimers disease, so instances where we both get a little whiny have become more frequent. Six weeks.
My wonderful friend Ana has also decided to lighten my remaining time here with cards that show up randomly (international mail, gotta love it). So my wall at work is growing with pictures of her, Cake, the cats, and her dad. I love it.
This makes my work area so much better.
So otherwise, I've been spending a lot of time at home relaxing. It's been amazing. Six weeks and counting until I get home! Here's to relaxing weekends of cooking and chilling... much love! :* MUAH
